Guilin, China Day 2


Giant gates and archways are an important aspect of Chinese culture. If you look closely you'll see that this one, leading to the cavarans, is made up of hundreds of randomly nailed pieces of wood for an interesting 'lace' effect. 
Also, red lanterns are hung everywhere at this time of year for both the celebration of Chinese New Year and then Lantern Festival that comes 15 days later.

There are spectacular and colorfully lit caverns in the Guilin, China area adding to the geological wonders of this  mountain range.
